Members recognized through the Welcome Asia Program must have put in the work to improve the experience of their business for Chinese, Japanese and Indian travelers. Most importantly, they pledge to continuously learn and improve alongside DDC.
Requirements
In order to be recognized through the Welcome Asia Program, a business must:
- Satisfy the minimum number of criteria in its respective category.
- Attend an annual training led by DDC.
- Improve their offerings and services for Chinese, Japanese and Indian travelers and operators.

Attractions:
Attractions must meet any 3 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome Asia recognized:
- Clear signage or international symbols– i.e. smoking areas, elevator, etc.
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi language map/materials/subtitles
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi language content on website
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi language tour options
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi-speaking staff, clearly identifiable
- Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese, Japanese & Indian culture and etiquette
- Booking available in Chinese, Japanese or Hindi or through a Chinese, Japanese, or Hindi OTA
- Attend an annual training led by DDC.
- Vegan food/drink options (if applicable)
- Offer hot water to clients, as well as beverages without ice (if applicable)
Hotels:
Hotels must meet any 3 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome Asia recognized:
- Clear signage or international symbols– i.e. smoking areas, elevator, etc.
- Chinese, Japanese, & Hindi language map/materials/subtitles
- Chinese, Japanese, & Hindi language content on website
- Smoking areas/rooms with clear signage
- Inclusive room rates (breakfast, tax, Wi-Fi, etc.)
- Booking available in Chinese, Japanese, or Hindi or through a Chinese, Japanese, or Hindi OTA
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi-speaking staff, clearly identifiable
- Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese, Japanese, & Indian culture and etiquette
- Provide hot water/Chinese tea in guest rooms
- Provide robes and slippers in room
- Provide free bottles of water in rooms
- Provide international adaptors
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi language TV channels/newspaper
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi breakfast and/or room service options
- Attend an annual training led by DDC.
- Vegan food/drink options (if applicable)
- Offer hot water to clients, as well as beverages without ice
Restaurants:
Restaurants must meet any 2 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome Asia recognized:
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi-speaking staff, clearly identifiable
- Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese, Japanese & Indian culture and etiquette
- Offer hot water to Chinese clients, as well as beverages without ice
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi language menu OR a menu with photos of the food
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi language content on website
- Attend an annual training led by DDC.
- Tip expectations are clearly indicated in pricing
- Offer hot water to clients, as well as beverages without ice
Retailers:
Retailers must meet any 2 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome Asia recognized:
- Clear signage or international symbols– i.e. smoking areas, elevator, etc.
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi language map/materials/subtitles
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi language content on website
- Chinese, Japanese & Hindi-speaking staff, clearly identifiable
- Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese, Japanese, & Indian culture and etiquette
- Free and easily accessible Wi-Fi (with either one click or clear instructions with screenshots)
- Attend an annual training led by DDC.
Sightseeing & Transportation:
Retailers must meet any 2 of the criteria below and attend at least one DDC-led training each year to become Welcome Asia recognized:
- Chinese, Japanese, & Hindi language map/materials/subtitles
- Chinese, Japanese, & Hindi language tour options (audio or in-person)
- Chinese, Japanese, & Hindi speaking staff, clearly identifiable
- Visitor-facing staff trained in Chinese, Japanese, & Indian culture and etiquette
- Booking available in Chinese, Japanese, or Hindi or through a Chinese, Japanese, or Hindi OTA
- Tip expectations are clearly indicated in pricing
